What makes BODYFLEX special?
So glad you asked!
Experience
I have over 30 years experience working in the fitness industry. I have worked at commercial gyms and in private practice. I always customize workout programming for individual clients. There is no workout of the day for everyone to follow. Everyone has different needs, goals and challenges. My job is to understand and integrate that information into the best workout for you.
Location
The studio is located on Broadway, just east of Redondo Avenue. It is upstairs, so it is very private, but also sunny with a very nice view. It is a boutique fitness studio with character. But don't let the charm fool you, you will work up a sweat! It is in Belmont Heights, easily walkable from Bluff Heights and Belmont Shore. However, there is a bike rack in front and parking lot in back for your convenience.
Train How You Want
I have experience in many exercise modalities, so you will never get bored! I like to change things up and keep it interesting. You should enjoy your workout in order to maximize your results. If you would rather not be alone, train with a friend (or three). Small group training (2-4 people) is a great way to keep it fun and interesting. We will work together and customize your workouts.
Hearing Loss
I am a member of the Deaf/HOH community. You can read more about my hearing loss journey on the Hearing Loss Page. I understand the challenges that accompany this condition and I cater to others with the same challenge. I keep the studio very quiet, no loud music to make communication difficult. I am also an ASL signer. So Whatever it it takes to communicate, I've got you covered. If you are a hearing person, don't worry! Most of my clients are hearing and I communicate with them just fine.

My Hearing Loss Story
I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease in 1999 and had endolymphatic shunt surgery on my left ear to reduce episodes of vertigo that were happening 2 or 3 times a day. The surgery was successful and I resumed a mostly normal life. In 2014, I began having symptoms in my right ear and and my condition deteriorated quickly. Today, I am deaf in my left ear and have severe hearing loss in my right. I have some residual hearing in my right ear, but my speech recognition is poor and I rely on lip reading and sometimes hearing aids to have a conversation. In my particular case, hearing aids don't always help my speech recognition and sometimes cause vertigo. I have been studying ASL for two years and I have embraced my deaf identity. It is a challenge, as most things in life are! I am a candidate for a cochlear implant, and I am planning to have that surgery soon. Please feel free to email me if you have questions about my experience with this process. I would love to hear your story and share experiences with anyone else who is going through a similar situation!
